Blog Post #2

Check out this blog! If you want to read more about life on campus, Strange GRPs has created an amazing blog showcasing “A Strange Day in the Life of the College Student.” It has a variety of different stories like “Going Back to School in Your 30s” and “My Experiences at College.”

The purpose of this blog has yet to be decided, however, Strange GRPs wanted to share students’ experiences at university. Students first created this blog as a school assignment and wanted to continue it to reach other students so they can share their stories. I linked this website as the layout was easy to explore and they had an interesting feature of Student Videos. For those readers who prefer to have a visual instead of looking at words for hours on hours, I thought this website would be perfect for you! I love the variety and perspectives this website has, as it can make many connections with readers.

Blog Post #1

For readers who want to explore more about the campus lifestyle, there is another blog you should check out! This blog is “created by students for students” and highlights the big topics of learning, living, and social life at university. There are posts from different students about their university experience which is super helpful to see a variety of individuals’ opinions.

The RGU student blog is from the Robert Gordon University located in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. All students have access to writing about their experience or sharing tips and posting it to the RGU blog. The main purpose of this blog is for students to share their university experiences with others and to connect with different students. I linked this blog for you to explore other people’s take on university and felt that this website did a fantastic job of laying out their posts. I like how all of the RGU students have access to post on this blog which gives many perspectives about university. The blog covers every aspect of the university that I was planning on covering on my website, so I felt as if it was a great blog to compare with.

Here is the link for the RGU student blog https://storeys.com/dorm-life-reality/ . Explore this page and discover other students’ opinions of the university. The good, the bad, and everything in between! Enjoy!

About ME

Hello everyone and welcome to the Reality of Living on Campus! For those wondering, my name is Emma Leach and I’m here to take you through my journey of living in a dorm.

Currently, I am a first year student at Thompson Rivers University studying Tourism Management. I am 18 years old and originally from Langley, BC, which is only a few hours drive away! A little more about me is that I absolutely love shopping and I have a great passion for travel.

I chose to blog about dorm life because I wanted to share my unique experience with everyone. My living conditions are completely different from most students who choose to live on campus, due to the fact that I dorm with 3 girls I have known for most of my life. With that, there are their own pro’s and con’s with living with people you know, however, I wouldn’t want it to change and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Movies portray campus life in all its glory and makes it look like constant fun all semester long. However, that is not always the case. There are many fun opportunities with living on campus, but I do not think many people know what it is like behind closed doors. The Reality of Living on Campus gives me the opportunity to help future students who are debating on whether to live on or off campus, in hopes that my blog would show the reality of it all. My blog will be different from other websites since I will be focusing more on the realistic lifestyle of campus living and that I dorm with some of my lifelong friends.

I can’t dive in too deep yet but I can’t wait to get this started and share my experience. I will leave you with one tip and that is, do NOT bring your entire wardrobe to university. Remember how I mentioned I’m a little bit of a shopaholic; well dorm closets are very small…
